The Department of Integrated Development Studies (DIDS) where faculty members have many years of experience in the conduct of development research, training of postgraduate students and community engagements. Research Fellows conduct research and publish in the areas of environment and resources management, poverty reduction and financial inclusion,
urban informality, inclusive waste management systems, and rural livelihoods and mining. We widely consult for international development agencies, mining companies, municipal authorities; and local and international NGOs. Our postgraduate programmes are designed to equip students with critical thinking skills and attitudes that they would need to engage with development issues at the local, national and international level. Our programmes are popular among researchers, development practitioners, policy makers, public sector workers, staff of municipal and metropolitan assemblies and NGOs. You don’t have to worry if you have no background in development studies as a prospective student. We have foundational courses purposely designed to ground you in development theory and philosophical thoughts that have shaped and still have the potential to shape development research, practice and policy.
